America

Robert C. Whiteside

This horse is a stylized American Flag on the awesome rearing horse shape. It flows like a flag in the breeze and shines with the dignity of the country and people it represents. The horse was done in memory of Armeda Monacelli Brennan, Madelyn Whiteside's mother. Army loved the American flag and what it stood for, being the daughter of Italian immigrants. A quilt of the American flag she crocheted for President Gerald Ford now resides in the collection of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington.

America's location was kept a secret prior to its installation. It is located at the garden in the median of 490E between the Culver and Winton Road exits. This horse has created interest for future placement at a variety of locations.
